My weekend music choice
It feels nice always to do any post on music, and hey, it’s weekend too……among all other ways we like to unwind, music always holds a special place in our hearts and suits any time and place, any mood or situation. So on this beautiful weekend I would like to share with you music of much lesser known and lesser heard bands, which are KEELS, NOVO AMOR and KINGS OF CONVENIENCE……..let’s enjoy some music.
Weekend Music with The Keels
When I first heard the songs from The Keels, I was deeply moved. I was not aware of the band nor their music earlier, so it was a big surprise to hear sounds such big and dreamy and ethereal. On eager interest and some research I found out that the band consists of artist Niall Keels, born Irish, quite well known in the music circuit of London. Being a former band member of Empire Divide, Niall Keels’ beautiful voice and gorgeous ambiance of the very spacial songs are the highlights of the band and I can definitely put the band in the indie, acoustic, ambient, alternative genre with comparisons to Bon Iver, Dustin Tebutt, The National and the likes.
Music of The Keels
‘Fears’ in weekend music
Absolutely love this one from the band. The song has this absolute cool, elegant, lush and ambient feel with carefully crafted acoustic arrangements with Niall’s vocals and chorus in the background……..a song to listen to on a train journey, or sitting in a lazy afternoon by the lakeside and chilling……hope you’ll like this one.
This is a catchy number, with lovely tunes and signature chorus and spacial arrangements…..hope bands like The Keels make more music and gift us with good feelings, feelings to linger on for a long time……
Feel my heart with rythm
Free me from these prison walls
Their biggest hit till date, and rightly so. Watch the video and listen to the song in a silent place with a good pair of ear piece, you’ll know what I’m saying. I love this song, for everything almost, the lyrics, the singing, the choruses, the musical arrangements, the tune and the wonderfully shot video…….everything makes this one perfect from The Keels……..enjoy.
Weekend music with Kings of Convenience
Kings of Convenience is an indie folk-pop duo from Bergen, Norway. Consisting of Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe and is next on my weekend music choice for today. The band is well known their clean beautiful and melodious acoustic tracks, with the duo giving stunning chorus and harmony in all their songs. Even if the band has been there around for 13 years now, still they are the very lesser known lesser found bands, but their music is at a different high level altogether.
Music of Kings of Convenience
There are so many beautiful songs from the band that its hard to choose just three, but this one is my top choice……I hope by listening to the song, you will know what I mean. The Norwegian band is well known for such soft and cool melodies, which has such a calming effect on their listeners. This song starts with a dreamy acoustic routine and then the vocal chorus starts in perfect harmony and sets the tone……later it is well complemented by the haunting keyboard section on the background……enjoy..:)
Another great song, soft, melodious, perfect harmony, and immaculate guitar playing…..anybody can fall in love with such great music, and such simple song like Homesick…..who can ignore such beauty..:). I play this one in my car all the times and it sounds great. Am happy to have found such a beautiful band like the Kings of Convenience……hope you will too.
‘Through the alleyways
to cool off in the shadows,
then into the street
following the water.
There’s a bearded man
paddling in his canoe,
looks as if he has
come all the way from the Cayman Islands’.
Another beautiful song…..one of their much known hits……just listen to it intently and peacefully……make your weekends happier.
Weekend music with Novo Amor
Once again i feel very happy to talk about Novo Amor, original name Ali John Meredith Lacey, singer songwriter from Wales, England. I have already covered him in some of my earlier posts as well which you can check back. Novo Amor’s haunting melodies and vocals, and dreamy ethereal music arrangements are quite similar to Bon Iver and Vancouver Sleep Clinic. With several albums to his credit, Novo Amor has also teamed up with Ed Tullet on many of his tracks. I am deeply influenced by his music, and has always looked up to him for giving us the very relaxing, soothing ethereal songs in all his albums.
Music of Novo Amor
This is from their new album Bathing Beach, and one of my top favorites. It showcases Ali John’s music making capabilities and creative brilliance for producing such soul stirrers, such haunting and ethereal tunes and emotional songs all the times. There’s hardly any song which you will not like from Novo Amor.
“Let it lead your love away
I never strayed
Let it bury you away
In all your blame, in all your pain
I will carry you always”
This is another gorgeous track. From his 2015 album in the same name, this is a fisherman’s tale of finding a ship wreck survivor and providing the anchor that was very much needed. I absolutely love this song from Novo Amor. With gently picked acoustic arrangements and haunting tunes, the songs become delicate and lovely.
“Took the breath from my open mouth
Never known how it broke me down
I went in circles somewhere else
Shook the best when your love was home
Storing up on your summer glow
You went in search of someone else”
“I’ll hold, so near and cold
You’ve exhumed my love
And I’m sold, and our story will grow old
But you’ll make dust from gold
And I’ll know that your heart was once like mine
Watch the flaws unwind
And I’ll throw my love to the ground
And I’ll tear you out”
Lastly for today, this beautiful track from their 2014 EP Woodgate NY…..I hope you will love these songs from Novo Amor…….happy listening and happy weekend.
