As I start my today’s review of Dustin Tebbutt and his dreamy cocktail of musical soundscapes with lovely lyrics and his falsetto driven Bon Iverish singing, you can be rest assured to try him out with all due enthusiasm and honesty, as you will find in this opening song, a beautiful cover of Innerbloom with Lisa Mitchell. Beautiful music has a soothing, calming effect on anybody, and is that art form that involves the entire brain and creates a healthy habit that is hard to go away. And the same effect comes from these wonderful genres of indie alternative acoustic ambient music, and Dustin has been a major name in my constant search for singer songwriters in that same genre. I hope you will all like his music. In one another collaboration he has teamed up with Kite String Tangle, so we will listen to some music from Kites too.
A little about Dustin
Born in Australia, this talented singer songwriter shifted base to the cold, beautiful, melancholic landscapes of Sweden, and found inspiration for his spacial ambient acoustic folk sound. Lesser known artists have a different creative mind than industry giants, lesser known artists generally stuck to their respective genres, making their music accessible to selected niche, and refining their sound gradually. Dustin Tebbutt is no exception. His music is generally soft, touching, soothing melodies with guitars, percussion, synth and his falsettos, creating a brooding, sad, melancholia of lost love and lament, yet sounding beautiful in every song. Only time he has ever shifted from this and created something which talks about finding new love and happy times and positivity is in his 2016 debut album First Light, which is a brilliant album. Let him create his beauties in his unique sound, he doesn’t need to fade away among industry giants, though he plays to packed venues these days. Thanks to artists like Dustin Tebbutt.
Dustin Tebbutt, First Light
First Light, the debut album of Dustin clearly keeps the listeners interested, happy and hooked on to his beautifully engineered melodies, with the perfect falsettos and the guitar strumming almost hypnotically. His music like other artists in his genre creates wide open spaces for me, lets me float in the halo of his melodies, and keeps me refreshed and happy all through. First Light, the opening song is an out and out romantic song, where he talks about him being happy in love. “I am looking up, for ways to bring you home, for I am lost without you, your eyes like the first light, I know I have found you” he says. And he gives the message that this album will be a bit different from the doom and despair his earlier albums talked about. Another lovely song is Hewlett’s Comet, the feel of the song is just amazing. This album is a must listen.

Dustin with Kite String Tangle and other music
Dustin collaborated with Brisbane based ambient electronic artist Danny Harley under the project of Kite String Tangle, and the song is Illuminate. It has been a friendly collaboration between these two very talented musicians and the song is heavenly, an honest listen will prove the point further. Dustin’s other albums include Home, The Breach and Bones. All these albums, actually EPs, not full length albums, are equally brilliant with signature tunes, in his own unique style, dreamy, ethereal, beautifully crafted, with drone synths, subtle voices and Dustin’s soothing vocals in a tranquil halo.
